I went to Sweden from Japan to visit this time-limited museum. I was able to watch the attractive disgusting foods from all over the world. I expected how smelly the Swedish “surströmming” and durians were. but surprisingly they were not so bad for me. and I was surprised that “Wasabi taste KitKat” was exhibited as Japanese disgusting foods. I remembered the words of the friend living in NY that the smell of baking fish is frightful bad odor, and the Turkish friend said a smell of “the bonito broth” is so stinky. Both of them are appetizing good smell in Japan. It is very interesting that an unpleasant food’s smell and the disgusting foods are different by feeling of person and by country. It was surprise and a happy time of new discovery. Thanks a lot, Samuel and all staffs!
(Some of the content in this exposition may be upsetting as it displays animal cruelty. Animal cruelty is disgusting this is why it is shown here. If you are sensitive think twice.) Get your noses ready for a stinky experience, learn about the world’s different disgusting foods, smell some of them, read all about them maybe of you are daring : taste some!
Excellent museum, many truly disgusting things but also challenging and incredibly interesting. They offer taste tests of a few of the delicacies available and the staff were very helpful and friendly! Would highly recommend a visit while in Malmo.
This is a museum about disgusting food and you have an opportunity to taste some samples at the final table.
Also there was an outdoor tasting at 3pm when we went of fermented herring which truly is horrible.
I think this museum is not permanent so catch it while you can.It was an entertaining and educational 1.5 hours well spent
We went there with no expectations. Turned out to be the place we enjoyed most in Malmo! Once you go in you see all the food that frankly is disgusting to smell and see but once you reach the end you can actually try a fair amount of “disgusting” food. This was the best part.
Durian fruit, stinking bishop, century eggs, meal worms, crickets even the mighty surströmming is there for you if you dare! We ate most of the stuff and it actually did not taste bad!!!
Credits to the owners for what they built and also that challenged us to actually try stuff!
So if you are ever in Malmo please do yourself a favor and visit this museum!
Not like all tourist activities (historical places, nature, malls…) Disgusting Food museum is so far the best experience I have ever had abroad.
If you are in Sweden forget about everything go to this museum first.
Not only seeing what other cultures eat and perceived by other cultures as disgusting but it will open your eyes and make a switch in your mind.
It will also introduce you to insects cuisine (Higher protein+environment friendly)
Experience uncommon food around the world in one place under one roof.
Very nice staff also.
The best ever
